Your Journey With Us

How We Support You

You do not have to figure this out alone

If your child is struggling, it can feel exhausting, confusing and isolating. Many parents and carers tell us they have spent months, sometimes years, trying to hold everything together whilst fighting to get the right support.

At Holding Space, you will be supported by parents who have lived experience and understand how hard this journey can be.

  • You do not need to be in crisis to reach out.
  • You do not need all the answers.
  • You just need a place to start.

Step 1: Get in touch

You can contact us either by telephone or using our online form. You can also drop into our hub. You do not need a professional referral.

Once we receive your enquiry, we will contact you to have a chat and arrange your first appointment at a time that works for you.

You might be wondering:

“Am I overreacting?”

“Is my child’s situation serious enough?”

“Will someone actually understand?”

Your experience matters and you deserve support too.

Step 2: Your first appointment

Your first session is a chance for us to get to know you and for you to tell us what is going on for you and your child. There is no pressure to have everything prepared or explained perfectly.

Sessions are available:

  • In person
  • By phone
  • Online

Together we can discuss how to support you going forward such as:

  • Helping with paperwork
  • Navigating the system
  • Signposting you to the other organisations
  • Or just a space for you to feel seen, heard and connected.

What parents/carers often say before the first session:

“I don’t know where to start.”

“I’m worried I’ll get emotional.”

“I feel guilty talking about how hard it’s been.”

Step 3: Ongoing support

Some parents need short-term support during a difficult period. Others benefit from longer-term support whilst navigating school issues, CAMHS, diagnoses, waiting lists or family challenges.

We can help you:

  • Feel less alone
  • Feel more confident
  • Understand available options
  • Prepare for meetings or appointments
  • Create a space for your own wellbeing too.

We come alongside you to help you feel less isolated and alone. It is entirely up to you how many sessions you want to have and how regularly you have them.
