Our Mission
To offer parent-peer support to families across East Sussex whose children and young people are struggling with their mental health. We provide a safe, non-judgemental, confidential space for parents to come together; to connect, chat and be supported. We want to normalise these conversations.
How we can help
We are a registered charity offering a range of support sessions from face-to-face to 1:1 support. Our team have lived experience and understand this journey. We wish someone had been there for us when we needed it. Most importantly for you to know that you are not alone.
Your safe space
Hansa founded Holding Space after her daughter struggled with her mental health and the lack of support for both of them.
Hansa’s story
“I felt so alone and a failure. As a parent I was meant to protect my daughter and I felt I had let her down. When I sought help, the professionals made me feel that it was my fault.
In 2019, I set up a Facebook page, hoping there was one other person I could talk to who would understand. The response was incredible and parents started sharing their stories. I never expected that years later I would run a charity across East Sussex with so many parents in need.
One of the resounding things is that parents want to be heard; they want to be listened to. For professionals to understand the struggles their child is facing. And to be offered support.
My passion is that families, children & young people are offered early intervention and support before they reach crisis point.

Our vision:
To open up and normalise conversations around mental health. To have a presence on the high street. Our vision is to open a mental health and wellbeing hub for families. A safe space where families can access support and information. A place where you can grab a coffee and chat with another parent. Where you can attend a range of workshops and interventions that will help you and your child.
